DISAPPEARING LANDSCAPES

Due to climate, and numerous natural disasters (weather and hemispherical shifting) and man-made disasters (such as urbanization, economic communal shifts, oil/chemical spills) , the landscape around us is forever changing and/or disappearing.

Growing up in Southeast Louisiana, and living through numerous disasters, I've always been intrigued with the concept of change. This has led to me looking at not only urban landscapes changing due to natural and human influence, but also what will happen to landscapes in nature. Recently, I was watching the news, and saw a sliding scale of what will happen to major coastlines when the polar ice caps completely melt. This has been the major inspiration and driving force for this photographic series.

I wanted to focus on landscapes that will be gone within the next 10-15 years, more than likely, sooner. Due to climate, and numerous natural disasters (weather and hemispherical shifting) and man-made disasters (such as urbanization, economic communal shifts, oil/chemical spills) , the landscape around us is forever changing and/or disappearing. This is an on-going series due to the essence of this subject matter.

Why is this important? It’s important because these photographs capture the last fleeting moments of these places. I will be bringing these landscapes that are usually difficult to get to into a public space where people can access them.
